Based on the latest data released by the Nepal Telecommunication Authority( NTA), WorldLink Communication Limited has emerged as the frontrunner in internet service, overtaking government companies.
The number of internet subscribers of the company has reached 1,003,949.
WorldLink, which has been targeting the domestic, small business and corporate sectors, also brought in foreign investment two years ago. Despite government investment, this company has not become the first. According to the annual status review report 2082 of the public sector enterprises released by the government recently, Nepal Telecom had earned a consolidated profit of Rs 48.03 billion.
However, the net profit of Nepal Telecom, which has the highest accumulated profit, has also declined in recent years. In the fiscal year 2080/81, Nepal Telecom’s net profit was Rs 6.23 billion. Which is 21 compared to Rs 7.92 billion in the previous fiscal year 2079/80. It is 34 percent lower.

Apart from these 10 companies in the budget, others are also providing services. In particular, broadlink, fiber world communication, easy net, connect Nepal network, etc. are providing services. Their customer base is not very large, but they still have a presence.
While dozens of companies, including WorldLink, are providing services in the market, the quality of the Internet has been repeatedly questioned. In particular, consumers have been complaining that the internet is slow, and they do not get effective service due to less Mbps service providers than said.
Consumers have repeatedly said that they do not show interest even when they make such complaints to the internet company. Questions have also been raised repeatedly about the failure of the regulator telecommunication authority to take action against service providers who surprise customers.
