Kathmandu. The International Coordination Council (NRNA ICC) of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA ICC) has decided that the National Coordination Council (NCC) can postpone their elections for a maximum of six months due to the current specific situation.
Spokesperson Gangadhar Gautam said the decision was taken at the fourth meeting of the NRNA ICC office-bearers elected by the Unity General Convention held in Kathmandu on May 3 and 4 as per the Supreme Court’s order.
Newly elected NRNA ICC President Mahesh Kumar Shrestha and General Secretary Babu Ram (BR) Lama have sent a letter to all the NCCs affiliated to the Association, informing that the NRNA High-Level Committee has decided to postpone the elections of the National Coordination Councils for a maximum of six months as per the need, keeping in mind that the ncc may be challenged to hold the elections within the stipulated time due to the convention of the association held as per the supreme court’s mandate and some confusion that arose after that. ।
“We are confident that this decision will give enough time to unite the institutions and prepare for free and inclusive elections.” Therefore, the NCCs who are unable to hold the elections between July 1 and July 31, the date specified by the statute, are hereby informed to hold the elections from July 31 not exceeding six months,” the letter reads.
Spokesperson Gautam said the NRNA ICC has also urged all NCCs to contact the office-bearers if they have any queries about it.
