Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has stressed the need for collaboration among the three levels of government for the development of information technology sector. Speaking at a programme organised by the Ministry today to review the National Information and Communication Technology Day-2082 BS and distribute certificates of appreciation, Minister Gurung stressed the need for the development of information technology to be comprehensive at the local level.
According to him, the government should celebrate the IT Day as a festival and bring a program to encourage the younger generation as much as possible. “This day should be celebrated as a festival across the country and there is a need to increase more activities to encourage new manpower,” minister Gurung said.
Minister Gurung, who is also the spokesperson of the Government of Nepal, said that the government is in the final stage of drafting the Digital Nepal Framework (DNF). The government is ready to build the necessary infrastructure for the development of the information technology sector, for which the cooperation of the private sector is necessary.
Ministry Secretary Radhika Aryal said that the ministry has allocated budget for IT internship to encourage youth in the IT sector. The stakeholders who participated in the programme suggested to develop the area in collaboration with the state and local levels.
