Agency. The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation said it had discovered a new oil mine in the Abu Senan region in the western desert. Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources made the announcement on Sunday. Preliminary test results are highly promising.
This indicates a daily production rate of 1,400 barrels of crude oil and about one million cubic feet of gas from bahraini structure. Apart from immediate production, the discovery is expected to add a substantial two million recoverable barrels to Egypt’s oil reserves.
Egypt aims to become a regional trading center for oil and liquefied natural gas after major discoveries in the country in recent years, including the Johar gas field in the Mediterranean Sea. Which holds an estimated 30 trillion cubic feet of gas.
