Gandaki. The exploratory trekking expedition to the trekking route, which has been completed with hope and confidence, has been completed. Organized by Gurung Tourism Entrepreneurs Association (JITIN), Gandaki State and funded by Nepal Tourism Board, Kwoholasothar Rural Municipality and Marsyangdi Rural Municipality, the search and exploration trekking from Pokhara to Dudhpokhari via Singdi of Lamjung was completed.
Founder President of Gurung Tourism Entrepreneurs Association and programme coordinator, Bobbar Jung Gurung, said that the promotional exploration and research padyatra was undertaken from June 27 to June 15 with the aim of connecting the ancient salt-carrying route with the traditional Bhedigoth with trekking tourism as a gurung heritage trekking route.
Earlier, the association had organized a search and research march from Tangting of Kaski to Timang of Manang in the first phase and from Sikles of Kaski to Kori Kholasonthar, Karpu to Yangjakot in the second phase.
“It is necessary to make arrangements for the provision of tea houses, drinking water and ease of communication along with the provision of tea houses in this trekking route,” said Association Chair Kisam Kumari Gurung. Preparations have been made to bring this trekking route into operation from 2026 along with the exploration and research phase, he added. He said that the ancient culture and culture of the historic Gurung villages included in the Gurung Heritage Trekking Route should be preserved and fully utilized as tourism.
During the trekking, an on-site technical study was carried out on the current state of communication connectivity in the area. During the study, it was found that there was no communication in some places. A total of 48 people participated in the exploration expedition. The trekking route has large kharks and patan along with rivulets and panoramic ponds at various places along the trekking route, it is possible to observe the glaciers like Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung, Himlung, Ganesh, Himalchuli and Manaslu from close proximity. In the trekking route, one can directly observe the lifestyle of kharks and shepherds living in the sheds of sheep, cows, buffaloes and yaks.
Many species of herbs such as Yarsagumba, Jatamsi, Satuwa, Panchaunle, Forest Garlic are found on the trekking route. In Gurung villages along the trekking route, dances of Ghantu, Sorathi, Krishna Charitra and Mother group are in vogue. Santkashi Gurung, director of Sirung Community Homestay, said that local products are being served to the tourists coming to the house.
