Bhojpur. The construction of ‘Greater Mundum Trekking Route’ has gained momentum. The construction of the trekking route has gained momentum at three local levels in the southern part of the district.
Greater Mundum trekking route is being constructed with the goal of connecting Koshi Tappu of Sunsari, Mainamaini of Belka Municipality of Udayapur, Maibeni Hasanpur of Bhojpur Hatuwagadhi to Selme and Tawabhanjyang.
The construction of trekking route in Hatuwagadhi, Amchowk and Ram Prasad Rai rural municipalities of Bhojpur district is progressing at a rapid pace. Prem Kumar Rai, chairperson of Hatuwagadhi Rural Municipality-9, said the trekking route is being constructed from Hompuwa Bhanjyang of Hasanpur.
Although the zero point of the trekking route is Maibeni, work is currently underway from Hombua, he said. The trekking route is being constructed at a cost of around Rs 3.2 million in partnership with the Swiss government.
According to Rai, the trekking route is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1.8 million by the federal government at Sindrang of Hatuwagadhi-3. The trekking route from Tosikhom to Sankham Jor Ahal will be constructed. Ram Prasad Rai Rural Municipality will construct 1,300 meters trekking route in the current fiscal year.
He informed that work is going on in the vicinity of Tham Danda, Golme Raja and Golme Rani in Ward No. 6. So far, the construction of about 200 meters of trekking route has been completed. In the first phase, the trekking route is being constructed at a cost of rs 3 million in Ram Prasad Rai rural municipality.
Similarly, the rural municipality has completed the construction of about two kilometers of trekking route in Amchok rural municipality. The trekking route from Daburang to Tham Danda will be constructed here. The Swiss government will share 55 per cent of the cost, 19 per cent of the provincial government, 18 per cent of the local government and 8 per cent of the federal government for the construction of the Greater Mundum trekking route.
The Greater Mundum trekking route will start from Kosi Tappu of Sunsari and extend from Mainamaini Bhojpur Hatuwagadhi of Udayapur to Maibeni, Shilasutkeri, Sankhamchuli, Byang, Yun of Aamchok Rural Municipality, Thamdanda, Golme Bhir, Suchagufa Nagchhanga of Ward No. 2, Papmakham Gadhi of Ward No. 2, Batase and Okhre of Ward No. 1 to Kapase Bhanjyang of Temkemaiung-9.
The length of this trekking route will be about 168 kilometers when it reaches Salpasilichung in Bhojpur with the Mundum trekking route constructed earlier at Tavabhanjyang. This program will run till 2085 BS. Work is underway under the trekking-based tourism development project Biratnagar.
