Kathmandu. Lawmakers in the Meeting of the Industry and Commerce and Labour and Consumer Welfare Committee of the House of Representatives have had heated arguments over the visit visa issue. Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Ganesh Parajuli introduced the issue of visit visa issue in a committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday.

Why was the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs not present when Parajuli initially discussed the possibility of sending Nepali domestic workers for foreign employment in the country where there was a bilateral labour agreement? he asked.

He expressed anger that the ruling party lawmakers have shown a tendency to express the pain of Nepali workers abroad but instead of investigating the shock, they have shown a tendency to protest.

Has the state taken the responsibility of selling nepali citizens in collusion with the state’s helplessness and brokers? Parajuli asked. Stating that the issue of investigation into human trafficking in the name of visit visa case has not been raised in parliament, he said that it is the responsibility of the National Independent Party alone to protect the Nepali citizens. he asked.

“Where is the Labour Minister, who has been a minister for 20 times, when such an important issue is being discussed today and there is confusion about the security aspect of Nepali citizens in the international arena? And what is the presence of the Ministry of Home Affairs? This committee has been underestimated. The meeting has been called without even 24 hours. Another thing is that the House has been closed for 18-20 days. It is heartening to hear from everyone’s mouth that it is the compulsion of Nepalis to go abroad today. Can it be a compulsion to be sold from one’s own immigration for labor and while traveling? What can be the compulsion to fall into the trap of human traffickers? Has the state taken the responsibility of selling nepali citizens in collusion with the helplessness and brokers of this state? Why couldn’t lawmakers be present in parliament for an investigation into human trafficking through immigration? Is it the responsibility of the Rastriya Swatantra Party alone to protect nepali citizens?”

He alleged that lawmakers who stand against human trafficking in the parliamentary committee sit idle by obeying their party’s whip in the House. Nepali Congress lawmaker Raju Thapa said the concerned bodies were investigating the visit visa case and there was no need for a committee. He also demanded a ruling saying parajuli had gone beyond the subject matter.

CpN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Krishna Kumar Shrestha said they were also opposing human trafficking. After the controversy escalated, President Avdul Khan said parajuli’s statement went beyond the subject matter, so there was a dispute and a committee should be formed to investigate the dispute.

Parajuli demanded that the committee should discuss the human trafficking issue and the Home Minister and the Labour Minister should come and answer.
