Kathmandu. National Private and Boarding Schools Association Nepal (NPABSON) has been honoured in the U-14 National School Sports Competition organized by the National Sports Council (NSC).
At the inaugural ceremony held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor on Monday, NPABSON was awarded a certificate of appreciation for its significant contribution to the promotion of school-level sports. Gita Chhetri Rana, president and founder of the organization, received the award.
On the occasion, NSC President and Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary formally inaugurated the tournament by handing over the Olympic torch to karate player Erica Gurung.
Various national and international medal winners participated in the torch race. A total of 476 players from all seven provinces are taking part in the tournament.
Athletics, rugby, table tennis, basketball, badminton and cricket are the six sports. The competition is underway for 25 gold, 25 silver and 33 bronze medals.
