Chitwan. A pharmacy has been added to BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital. Earlier, two pharmacies were operating. According to the hospital, the pharmacy has been added due to the increase in the number of patients.
According to Dr Umesh Nepal, deputy director of the hospital, a new pharmacy branch has been expanded in the daycare of the hospital. Patients who have to undergo chemotherapy without admission come to ‘daycare’. He informed that the branch has been expanded as the patients coming to daycare have difficulty in buying medicines.
According to him, arrangements have been made to purchase medicines through insurance and in cash from the OPD pharmacy, while the pharmacy is open 24 hours a day in cash including the poor inside the inner building. Medicines can be purchased from daycare pharmacies through the poor and in cash. He said that the pharmacy, which is aimed at those who wear chemo without admission, will remain open from 7 am to 5 pm.
Executive Director of the hospital, Dr Shivaji Poudel, said that the new branch of the pharmacy has been opened to reduce the compulsion of patients to wait for their turn to buy medicines. Preparations are underway to operate another pharmacy soon to facilitate the operating room and intensive care unit, he added.
