Ward Chair Tharu said, “We have been able to embankment the rivulet to solve the problem of inundation and erosion in the villages and settlements of the ward due to flooding of The Allowance Rivulet with heavy rainfall in the rainy season every year.” ’
According to him, the Lumbini province government has allocated Rs 5.5 million to cut the Chure hill in the Ampakholi Community Forest near Guruwagaun and divert the allowance rivulet from the forest area to Basanta Rivulet. A 180-metre-long embankment has been constructed by cutting the 18-metre-high hill. After the construction of this embankment, the flood coming through The Allowance Khola and Chuke Nala during the rainy season will flow through Basanta Khola outside the settlement. Chairman of Dhakeri Market Management Committee, Bishworaj Khanal, said that the embankment has solved the problem of inundation and erosion in Guruwagaun, Khadkatol, Pahadipurba, Tharugaun, Dhakeri and Pump bazaars of Rapti Sonari-9.
Stating that the wishes and needs of the locals for decades have now been fulfilled, he said that interest should also be shown in regular maintenance and maintenance of the Allowance Khola diversion.
