Global IME Bank collects 150 kg of plastic waste from Machhegaon to Champadevi temple complex

Kathmandu. Global IME Bank Limited has organized a one-day hiking program from Machhegaon of Kirtipur to Champadevi Temple premises to collect plastic waste on the occasion of World Environment Day.

Around 150 kg of plastic waste was collected at the event organized in collaboration with Kirtipur Municipality and Nepal Red Cross Society, Kirtipur branch.

In addition, bamboo dokas produced by the local community have also been installed at various places under the hiking route, which is believed to contribute to long-term waste management.

After the garbage collection, the waste was handed over to the waste management center of the municipality.

Chief Executive Officer of the Bank Surendra Raj Regmi, Deputy CHIEF Executive Officer Suman Pokharel, representatives of Kirtipur Municipality, officials of Nepal Red Cross Society, Kirtipur Branch, employees of the bank and local volunteers were present on the occasion.

In addition to banking services, Global IME Bank has been making special contributions to the promotion of indigenous products, mitigation of climate change impacts, environmental protection and sustainable development. In the context of World Environment Day, the bank has also organized a massive tree plantation program across the country.

On the occasion of its 18th anniversary, the bank has launched tree plantation programmes at various places with a target of planting 18,000 trees across the country. The bank believes that planting trees will have a positive impact on environmental protection as well as climate change mitigation and income of the local community.
