Damauli (Tanahun). Under the Muglin-Pokhara road expansion, 53 percent of the work has been completed in the western section. According to the Muglin Pokhara Road Project (Western Section), half of the work on the section from Jamuna in Tanahun to Seti Bridge in Pokhara has been completed so far.

Project Chief Krishna Bahadur Kunwar said that two-way blacktopping has been completed on the 24-km stretch and one-way blacktopping on the 12.8-km section. According to him, three kilometers of one-way blacktopping is yet to be done on the western side and the target is to complete the one-way blacktopping by the end of May.

Ten out of 12 bridges have been completed on the western side, while 92 out of 100 culverts have been completed, he said. According to him, 424 electricity poles are yet to be removed in this section and this has caused some delay in the work.

He said that the delay in removing the poles from Talchowk to Adarsha Chowk and from The Nose to Bijayapur of the hill has caused problems in the work. He said that the four-lane work from Kotre to Setipul would be completed by mid-July as the commitment has been made to remove the pole within a week.

The deadline for the construction of this section, which was signed on May 27, 2017, is till December 1, 2019. The contract for this section was awarded to NHUI KUN Highway and Bridge for Rs 7.4 billion. The work from Abukhaireni to Jamuna under the eastern section has almost reached the final stage. 85 percent of the work on this section has been completed. Engineer Bishnu Prasad Pandey informed that the blacktopping of the section from Abukhaireni to Jamuna has almost been completed.

Under this section, only one-way blacktopping is left near Madi Bridge and Bimalnagar. The blacktopping in Damauli market has also reached the final stage. Pandey said that the deadline of this section has been extended for the third time and the work will be completed within that period. The work on the eastern section was started from April 15, 2018 after signing an agreement on January 1, 2017. China Communication Construction has bagged the contract for the eastern section.

The four-lane road is being constructed with the help of a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as the number of vehicles on the road drawn in 2026 BS has increased. The contract for the eastern section has been awarded for Rs 6.21 billion.
