Kathmandu. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that the entire nation should be united in reducing and controlling suicides, road accidents and electronic crimes as drugs are the root causes. Speaking at a programme organized at the Ministry today to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Home Minister Lekhak said that drug abuse should be reduced and controlled with the cooperation and cooperation of all concerned.
Citing the example of drivers using drugs after the drug abuse was being investigated, he said, “There is a need for cooperation and collaboration between the concerned government and non-governmental organizations and civil society keeping in view the situation of transportation, storage and consumption of drugs, which has played a major role in causing irreparable damage to the country with huge wealth every year.” ’
Stating that special attention should be paid to the parents, family members, school families and local levels who are closest in reducing and controlling drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Home Minister Lekhak urged all to make the day, which is being celebrated across the country from June 26 to 12, result-oriented.
Stressing the need for individuals to be aware and aware to reduce and control the ill-effects of drugs in the society, he opined that there should be regular interaction between parents and teachers in schools, inclusion of drug-related issues in school-level curriculum, breaking the network and vicious cycle related to it that is plaguing the entire nation and carrying out publicity activities as a campaign.
On the occasion, the representatives of various organizations should closely monitor the schools and hostels where drugs may be misused, take strict action against the parties involved in its trade, arrange a separate drug cell at the local level, organize creative programs including street plays, essay competitions related to drugs, take strict action against drivers using drugs, take strict action against drug abuse and illegal trafficking across the country. He suggested conducting awareness programmes and being aware of the possible movement along the open border.
According to the official statistics, 134,000 people die every year due to drug abuse in Nepal, but more than 500,000 people die.
