Two killed, 34 injured in Tulsipur bus accident

Dang. Two persons were killed and 34 others injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at Bakharia of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-13. Narayan Bhandari, 65, of Dangisharan rural municipality-2 and Shanta Khadka Chaudhary, 25, of the same area died in the accident, said Surya Bahadur Rana, police inspector at the Area Police Office, Tulsipur.

According to him, a passenger bus (Na 4 Kha 4009) en route to Tulsipur from Goltakuri on Tulsipur-Amliya section collided with an empty bus (Ra 1 Ka 870) of Gyanjyoti Boarding School going from Tulsipur to Bakharia.

Of the injured, four are in critical condition, 15 are in moderate condition and the rest are in normal condition, police inspector Rana said. All the injured are undergoing treatment at The Provincial Hospital Tulsipur, he said, adding that most of the passengers in the bus were from the same village.

A three-member team led by Sub-Inspector Pareshwor Dangi from area police office Damargaun and 12-member team led by inspector Rana from area police office Tulsipur were rushed to the spot.

The injured were immediately rescued and sent to Rapti Provincial Hospital, Tulsipur for treatment. The drivers of both the buses have been arrested and investigation into the incident is underway, rana said. After the collision, the passenger bus overturned about five meters down the road.
