More than 2,000 tax payers suspended in Chitwan for not submitting returns

Chitwan. A total of 2,373 value-added taxpayers registered with the Inland Revenue Office, Bharatpur have been suspended. The Department of Internal Revenue has suspended the taxpayers for not submitting vat details continuously for the last six months.

According to Bimal Poudel, information officer at the office, 2,400 value added taxpayers in this office had not submitted their details.

Of them, 27 had submitted their details after the notice made public by the department on May 1, 2082. With the suspension of those who did not submit the details, the transactions of these organizations have been stopped and consumers have been informed not to buy and sell.

The Department has made public the names of taxpayers who did not submit tax returns for six consecutive months in sub-section 8 of Section 17 of the Value Added Tax Act, 2052 BS. He informed that the registration of VAT has been suspended by withholding the tax deduction of such taxpayers. If the suspended taxpayer has to conduct his business, he will have to submit all the remaining tax returns.

There are more than 10,000 value-added taxpayers in the district. There are more than 72,000 taxpayers in the district. Although taxpayers know that they have to submit tax details, they have to face suspension action of the department for ignoring them.

He said, “Taxpayers do not understand, some may not have business, but it is not that they do not have knowledge. He said that the time has come to provide education to the taxpayers that they should submit the details to the state even if there is no transaction. The Department has released the list of 95,349 taxpayers across the country and suspended them.
