Kathmandu. Lawmakers expressed the belief that the ‘Hindkush Himalaya Parliamentary Conference’ would play an important role in effectively presenting the adverse effects of climate change in the Himalayan region at the international level.

The lawmakers expressed this belief while speaking at a meeting of the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee held at Singha Durbar on Friday. Stating that the conference was timely, they stressed the need to ensure the participation of the local level and the directly affected communities.

Nepali Congress lawmaker Bir Bahadur Balayar expressed the belief that the conference would prove to be a milestone in the international community on the common interests of the eight countries in the Indo-Kush Himalayan region. He said that the world should be drawn to the problems being faced by the people living in the mountainous and mountainous areas.

Stating that the solution to the mountain problem was not possible through the single efforts of any country, he said there was a need for cooperation and coordination among the countries in the Indo-Kush Himalayan region.

“The issue of how to take the impact of climate change on the mountains and the damage we are facing and the problems being faced by the mountains and Bhutan at the international level,” he said. We had to hold this conference with the commitment of eight countries in the Indo-Kush Himalayan region to raise their voices in solidarity with the global community. ’

Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Binita Kathayat stressed the need of ensuring the participation of local communities directly affected in the mountainous region. She said the conference could not be successful and effective without the participation of local governments and communities who have direct links with the community.

She said, “While we are organizing such a good program, we have to involve the lower level government as well as the communities living there.” It may give good results. People living in some mountains do not even know about the safety there. We do not even know about the problems there, so it is necessary to discuss it. ’

Most of the lawmakers who spoke at the meeting have enquired about the participation, management and discussions in the conference. The committee is scheduled to hold the conference on August 15 and 15. The conference will discuss issues related to climate disasters and pollution, mountainous areas and lifestyle and exchange experiences on climate adaptation in the countries of the region.
