‘French music’ echoed at Annapurna base camp

Benny. Myagdi: For the first time, ‘French music’ has been echoed at the base camp of Annapurna First Mountain located at Narchiang of Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 in Myagdi. A team of French artists performed at the base camp located at an altitude of 4,050 meters above sea level on the occasion of ‘Annapurna Diamond Festival’ organized on Tuesday to mark the 75th anniversary of the ascent of Annapurna First Mountain (8091 meters).

The Annapurna Music Group, led by Mathias Herzog, son of French mountaineer Maurice Herzog, the first mountaineer of Mount Annapurna, performed a musical performance that gave a glimpse of Nepali music at the base camp.

Tej Gurung, a member of annapurna diamond festival organizing committee, said that domestic tourists who reached the base camp enjoyed the musical performances by French artists in the music of Nepali instruments including harmonium, flute and guitar.

“This is the first time that such a musical programme has been organised at annapurna base camp and this performance by a group of French artists has inspired us to organize musical performances at the base camp in the coming days,” said Gurung, who is also an activist of Annapurna Trekking Route.

The artists presented music reflecting Nepaliness and also performed dances prevalent in France. Nepali and foreign tourists watched the music presented in the panoramic Panchakunda Lake complex in the lap of Annapurna Mountain.

President of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Gandaki, Krishna Prasad Acharya, who reached the base camp leading the march organized on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee, said that the medium of music would help in the promotion and promotion of the tourism sector.

Annapurna Rural Municipality-led Tourism Board, Mountaineering Association, TAAN, ACAP and Annapurna Rural Municipality Tourism Development Committee jointly organized the diamond festival. In addition, a marathon competition of about 36 kilometers from the base camp to Narchiang village as well as original dance programs have been organized.
