Kathmandu. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal has said that it was wrong for the transport entrepreneurs to keep public transport closed. According to the agreement reached between the government and the transport entrepreneurs on Monday night, the transport entrepreneurs have to operate the transport, but it has not been operated so far.
He said that it was wrong as the transport entrepreneurs were making arguments such as that transport would be operated only after receiving a letter from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers to gandaki state.
They have been agitating demanding the immediate repeal of section 2 (h) of the Gandaki State Government Regulation 2082 bs published in the Gazette on May 1, 2082, in violation of Section 8 of Section 8 and Section 12 (1) of Chapter 2 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 2049.
Stating that the central government has not signed any agreement that violates the rights of the provinces, he said the remaining issues would be addressed through the bill as the bill to provide for some vehicles and public transport has reached the final stage.
He urged them to operate the transport as per the agreement by being responsible.
Minister Dahal said, “An agreement was signed last night regarding transport entrepreneurs. We have not made any agreement that violates the rights of the state. Now we have taken the bill made to provide for some vehicles and public transport to the final stage. Keep it in abeyance until we bring that law to the discussion or only after the law comes out, so that it will be easier if the lower states make the law. It’s about ride sharing. ‘
“It has now been agreed that the transport entrepreneurs will sign an agreement in that way to advance the Gandaki state and they will postpone the agitation for the time being and move forward after organizing it through the federal law. The context of transportation is wrong. Because Nepal is operated only by the private sector in the transport sector. Sajha Transport has been operated through cooperatives. It is operated by 100 per cent private companies. You have to be responsible in this regard. They should not do what is happening and causing misery to the people,” he said.
Minister Dahal said that the transport entrepreneurs should operate the closed transportation. He said ride-sharing would also be brought under the purview of the state through the bill to provide for some vehicles and public transport.
