Private hospitals are usually used for planned or elective care. Of all admissions that recorded contingency, 69 percent were elective. Most of them were treated in private facilities such as planned surgeries.
While 31 percent were emergency. Most of them were handled by public hospitals. The time spent in the hospital was different. The average duration was 2.7 days. Most admissions or 63 percent were on a single day.
Non-admission care has also increased over the past decade. Outpatient service incidence increased from 34.9 million in 2014-15 to 40.9 million in 2023-24.
