Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Industries operating within the Kathmandu Valley will be shifted out of the Kathmandu Valley to reduce pollution. Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel said this while presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS in the joint sitting of the federal parliament.

He said that the government has taken a policy to encourage industries to shift to industrial areas outside the Valley with the aim of controlling pollution in the capital region.

According to Finance Minister Poudel, arrangements have been made to provide land on free lease to the industries to be relocated. Finance Minister Poudel said arrangements have been made to purchase land beyond the limit for industries, businesses, agricultural firms and housing apartments.

He also said that arrangements would be made to sell the licensed housing and apartments that could not be sold due to the limitation. The government has said it will review the land acquisition and demarcation laws in the coming fiscal year.
