‘Everyone should cooperate to maintain cleanliness and hygiene’

Kathmandu. Minister for Drinking Water Pradeep Yadav has stressed the need for cooperation from all to maintain drinking water, sanitation and sanitation. In a letter to the chiefs and leaders of all political parties, he urged them to cooperate and coordinate in the areas of drinking water, sanitation and sanitation, climate-friendly sanitation, among others.

Minister Yadav stressed the need to raise the issue in the Council of Ministers and Parliament, hold meetings under the leadership of chief ministers of all seven provinces and formulate a strategy for inclusive and climate-friendly sanitation.

Stating that the political parties should make drinking water, sanitation and sanitation a priority issue, he urged all to pledge support. Minister Yadav expressed the hope that all would help in improving the sanitation and drinking water system in the country.

“There is a need for coordination and initiative of political parties to deal with the problems of implementation of projects and programmes by the three tiers of government, lack of sectoral approach and coordination, systemic challenges in resource mobilization and implementation, inadequate financing and poor financial resource management,” reads the letter sent by the minister.

Minister Yadav urged all the political parties and stakeholders to cooperate with the government to abolish the tax on the community drinking water system, strengthen the ministry, take initiative to form the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, and extend the melamchi drinking water service to Chandragiri Municipality in Kathmandu.

Minister Yadav stressed the need for active participation and commitment of all political parties to advance drinking water and sanitation as the basic pillars of sustainable development of the country. “There is a need to make drinking water, sanitation and sanitation a matter of political priority to improve the living standards of the citizens and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals,” he said. ’

Minister Yadav stressed the need of making it a matter of political priority as the dream of a prosperous Nepal could not be fulfilled without long-term reforms in the sector which has a direct impact on health, education, gender equality and inclusive development. “There is a need to increase investment in drinking water and sanitation and policy commitment. This will meet the basic needs of the citizens. ’

Minister Yadav said, “Although Nepal has set a target to provide access to safe water and sanitation to all citizens by 2030, the budget, lack of plan implementation and lack of political will pose a challenge to this goal.” ’

He said that federal lawmakers, local government chiefs and political parties should also focus on this issue as drinking water and sanitation are not only the issues of development projects but also people’s rights.
