Kathmandu. Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shashank Koirala has accused Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak of character assassination and defamation.
Talking to media persons after a meeting of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s office-bearers held at his residence budhanilkantha on Monday, Koirala said he was clear about the character assassination of the home minister after his clarification in the meeting.
Claiming that the Home Minister had not made an inch wrong and all the allegations levelled against him were false, the Home Minister said he would reply in parliament on Tuesday. Koirala said that the party president has been requested to seek clarification from the leaders who are against the party leaders in the meeting.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s statement on Sunday, Koirala said the politics of confrontation would not benefit anyone as Nepal needed development and stability now. He made it clear that the need of the hour is to face the challenge and find a certain path.
“What the Home Minister said today, I was shocked. He hasn’t made an inch wrong. Whatever allegations have been made are baseless allegations. It is wrong that he has been accused. He will reply in Parliament tomorrow. What we have said is that we have called the president and asked him to ask. We have asked the party president to call the party leaders who demanded the resignation of the Home Minister. The Congress does not benefit from confrontation with each other. We have asked Shekhar, Sunil and Rajendra Bajgai to clarify. ‘
“We have to seek an explanation from the leaders who are against the party leaders about the reasons. About the Prime Minister’s statement: I do not believe in the politics of concentration. Anything can happen when it comes to beatings. We have to sit down and discuss the solution. Confrontation does not benefit anyone. Nepal needs development and stability. We have to work together for stability and development. Not the path of concentration. In politics, you should be able to face the challenge and overcome it and find a certain path. This kind of confrontation is not good for the nation,” he said.
Stating that all parts of the organization should be equal to run the party, he clarified that the meetings were being held only to give way to the organization.
