Lumbini. Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has said that the powers provided by the constitution should be delegated to the province for strengthening federalism. Addressing a coordination meeting between the members of the National Assembly and the State Assembly held in the State Capital Rapti Valley (Dekhuri) today, Chief Minister Acharya expressed the view that the powers given by the constitution should be delegated to the province so that the rights provided by the constitution are not curtailed.
“I understand that the role of people’s representatives is necessary to delegate the rights guaranteed by the constitution to the federal government or the federal parliament,” he said. ’
Chief Minister Acharya said that the state was facing financial problems as the federal government did not send the amount of equalization grant. “Last year, there was no huge amount of equalization grant. As a result, the state is still facing a financial crisis,” acharya said, adding that the constitution has ensured equalization grants. However, problems such as reduction of funds and non-payment of funds on this issue have affected the development projects undertaken by the state. ’
Likewise, lumbini province has been moving ahead with the formulation and implementation of laws in priority and there is a need for continuous coordination and collaboration among the members of the federal parliament and state assemblies for the effectiveness of parliamentary practices including law making and implementation, he said.
