Tanahun. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is preparing to operate a training center to produce hydro and electro-mechanical manpower of hydropower projects. A training centre has been set up at Marsyangdi Hydropower Station at Abukhaireni Rural Municipality-4.
Pashupati Raj Gautam, manager of Marsyangdi Hydropower Station, said that the work of removing the dependence of India and China has been taken forward. After conducting the training, 300 people will get employment. Gautam said, “It is believed that 60 percent skilled and 40 percent unskilled will get employment. The training center is going to be operated to prepare human resources for repair and installation of new equipment due to the damaged causes of the completed and under-construction projects.
Gautam said a proposal has been sent to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources as the centre has more than 1,007 ropanis of land and buildings and towers.
Gautam said, “We have submitted a proposal to run a training center for the utilization of the wasted land of Marsyangdi Hydropower Station as it has access to the central part of Nepal and roads.” The training is expected to help displace Indian and Chinese technicians.
Even if some machines break down, it will help to end the situation of waiting for a team of Chinese or Indian companies for weeks. Gautam said that it would be effective if the mechanic training could be conducted to increase employment at the local level, to complete the maintenance work quickly and to utilize the wasted land.
