Solukhumbu. Solukhumbu: Phaplu Airport at Salleri, the district headquarters of Solukhumbu, is going to operate regular flights to Kathmandu four days a week. Nepal Airlines has started operating flights four days a week.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), nepal airlines will now operate flights every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The Phaplu-Kathmandu flight service has been resumed after it was suspended for a long time due to a technical snag in the Nepal Airlines aircraft. NrA Phaplu’s senior officer Bhanubhakta Acharya said that it has become possible to operate the flight again after the completion of the maintenance of the aircraft. Earlier, the plane, which was flying once a week, could not fly to Phaplu for a long time as it was ‘grounded’.
Tenji Sherpa, station chief of Nepal Airlines Phaplu, said that the air service of the route had come to a complete halt from December to Chaitra. Mahesh Adhikari, a salleri-based businessman, said, “With the arrival of the aircraft regularly, the compulsion of traveling on the BP Highway to reach Kathmandu has been removed. But this service must be continuous and reliable, not just temporarily. ’
In the past, many people had to face difficulties in travel, trade, emergency treatment and essential work due to non-operation of ships. Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) Senior Vice President Karma Sherpa said that tourism entrepreneurs in the tourism district have been encouraged by the resumption of flights.
