Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has said that there will be no load-shedding. Minister Khadka inspected the Kalimati ‘No Light’ branch at Kuleshwor on Sunday evening and urged the people not to follow rumours.
On the occasion, Minister Khadka took information about the problems of power supply, consumer complaints and possible technical difficulties seen in various places under the no-light branch. Minister Khadka clarified that there would be no load shedding as the electricity being produced in the country is sufficient to meet the demand.
“Some groups or individuals are spreading rumours in the market in a planned manner and I request the general public not to follow such misleading propaganda,” he said.
Minister Khadka said that although there were more problems in the power system in the past years, the present situation is comparatively easier than in the past. He said that although there was a problem of a few moments due to unusual weather, wind or lightning, it was being solved soon.
Minister Khadka also made an emergency visit to the Load Dispatch Center at Syuchatar today. He observed the situation of electricity flow across the country through the center and also took information about the status of technology and staff management.
Inspecting the centre, he directed the employees of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to work responsibly and accountable to the consumers. He said that unconfirmed information and false propaganda in the market would create confusion among the general public.
Minister Khadka said that the government has adopted a policy of strengthening the system, supply continuity and grievance management to prevent recurrence of load shedding. Minister Khadka, Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Hitendra Dev Shakya and other technical staff were present on the occasion. rss
