Finance Ministry busy preparing budget for FY 2082/83, pays special attention to country’s needs and suggestions

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Finance is busy preparing the budget statement for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS. Keeping in view the suggestions received from various sectors, the Ministry of Finance is busy preparing the budget.

Spokesperson at the Ministry of Finance, Shyam Prasad Bhandari, shared that the budget preparation work was being carried out keeping in mind the country’s needs and people’s expectations, the limits of available resources and the suggestions received. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel and his team are focused on budget preparation.

The Finance Ministry had consulted ministries, departments, National Planning Commission, political parties, people’s representatives and experts from related fields regarding the preparation of the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Poudel held consultations with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal among others.

The Finance Ministry had also consulted former finance ministers. Similarly, discussions were held with former finance secretaries, economists, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Nepalese Industries and Nepal Chamber of Commerce.

Discussions were also held with development partners. People’s representatives, office-bearers of various organizations and citizens had also suggested to the Ministry of Finance regarding the preparation of the budget. The Ministry of Finance had publicly called for suggestions regarding the budget.

Discussions have already been held on the principles and priorities of the government’s policies and programmes and budget. The principles and priorities of the budget include improving the economy, creating jobs, building a digital economy, developing physical infrastructure and social security.

The economic survey will be presented in parliament on May 15 and the budget statement will be presented on May 15.
