Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the government has the right to ban the movement of the royalists.
He said this while replying to questions from media persons while announcing the decisions of the cabinet meeting at Singha Durbar on Thursday.
He said that the restoration of monarchy was an act against the constitution. So far, the government has been allowing those who are liberally opposing the constitution, opposing the values of established democracy and wanting to overturn the current system of governance to hold meetings and agitation programmes.
He warned that allowing the agitation was not cowardice of the government but generosity and not considered as weakness. Those indulging in anti-constitution and anti-people activities cannot always be exempted, he said.
“We have once again given freedom to those who oppose the constitution liberally, to those who oppose the values of established democracy and to those who want to overturn this system of governance,” he said. That’s not our cowardice. It’s not our weakness. We are not afraid. They don’t think we’re weak. It doesn’t matter that we practice it liberally. That’s something that’s exempted. ‘
“We cannot say that if we continue to carry out such anti-constitution, anti-people and system activities all the time, we will always tolerate it. The government doesn’t always look at it. There is a fair opposition from the government. But now we are abandoning all the activities of the government. The reaction is based on how the activity takes shape. It is the duty of all of us to protect this republic achieved by so many people by shedding blood and sweat and suffering. To this day, we have not banned that movement. The government has the constitutional right and legal right to impose restrictions,” he said.
Minister Gurung said, “What is the form of the movement of the royalists? The government will move ahead accordingly, he said.
