Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the republic in Nepal came from speech and not by bullets. He said this while replying to questions from media persons while announcing the decisions of the cabinet meeting at Singha Durbar on Thursday.
He also said that he had repeatedly urged the Maoists not to think that the republic in Nepal came from ballot and not bullets. He also said that the present ruling party and the opposition are in favour of republic.
He argued that criticism and comments of the republic can be made, but what is in favor of the monarchy and those who are involved in dividing the country are against the constitution.
Minister Gurung said, “The republic in this country has come through speech and not through bullets. It came from the ballot, not by bullet. I have been teasing that it was not the day when the Maoists said they would bring the republic through bullets. At present, we are in favor of the republic, all of us in the ruling party and the opposition. You can criticize and comment on the republic. What is in favor of monarchy and dividing the country is against the constitution. Democracy, democracy and people are anti-people. We have to work within that limit. ’
Minister Gurung also warned not to think that he was afraid of giving the right to speak to the royalists.
