Kathmandu. CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Aman Lal Modi has objected to the opposition being stopped from speaking in the parliamentary committee. Speaking at the Public Accounts Committee on Thursday, he objected to the committee chairman.

Stating that parliament is sovereign and public issues can be discussed, he said they were not slaves of anyone, adding that they could not be stopped from keeping their concerns in the committee.

Reiterating that the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee should be of the opposition, he said, “Parliament is sovereign. This is a mini-palrament. We are in the Maoist opposition on public issues, issues we feel. You stop what we’re talking about. This is unfortunate. We can’t be banned. When you say that the Public Accounts Committee should be of the opposition, you should not be there. Are we your slaves? It’s about the Maoist party. ’

He said that questions will remain on the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee as long as the ruling party remains in power.
