Kathmandu. CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Bimala Subedi has urged the government to withdraw the bill to amend some Nepal Acts related to land.

Taking part in the discussion on the Bill to amend some Nepal Acts related to land in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, she alleged that bringing the controversial bill back to parliament as soon as it came in the form of an ordinance has reaffirmed that the government is determined in the interest of middlemen.

She alleged that it has been proved that the government is not dedicated to the people but to the service of certain individuals and groups. Subedi alleged that the government was trying to evict the landless from the place where they were residing by making arrangements to provide land to the landless people.

“The two-thirds government has re-registered the ordinance to amend some Nepal Acts relating to land brought on January 1, 2081, as a bill after it was made inoperative by the parliament,” he said. The re-introduction of a bill in parliament has reaffirmed that the government is determined in the interests of middlemen. This proves that this government is not accountable to the people and is dedicated to the service of certain individuals and groups. Section 12 (g) of the Land Act 2021 has been amended to provide for the sale of land to real estate business. This arrangement has come from the interests of real estate dealers. The government is creating a situation for a limited section of people above the general public to keep any land and sell any land in the name of real estate business. ’

She opposed the provisions related to the sale of real estate and claimed that the bill was harmful to the people.
