Kathmandu. Nepali Congress lawmaker Rama Koirala has drawn the attention of the government to the fact that the exchange of gas cylinders has cheated the consumers. Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, she objected to the fraud in exchanging LP gas cylinders.
She said that many types of LPG cylinders are in the market and they have been cheated by making them exchange cylinders by pretending to be gas shortage. She said they were charging Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 for exchanging cylinders.
“There are many types of LPG cylinders in the market. But sometimes there is a shortage of gas according to the company. After a long time of shortage of gas, when consumers go to get gas, this company does not have gas, it is said to exchange cylinders. Consumers exchange cylinders by forcing some to take 500 rupees and some thousand to exchange cylinders. Does the government not have a monitoring body? Speaker in the country. The same gas. After registering different companies, why is money added to consumers again to exchange cylinders? The government should monitor such activities. ’
Koirala said the government should immediately monitor such activities.
