Kathmandu. The government is going to celebrate Republic Day for three days. This was informed at a meeting of the Republic Day Main Celebration Committee held at Singha Durbar on Monday.
Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Gokarna Mani Duwadi said the government will observe the Republic Day on May 14, 15 and 16. According to him, the main celebration committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to celebrate the Republic Day 2082 in a grand manner.
Deputy Prime Minister, Ministers, Ministers of State, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Chief Secretary of The Government of Nepal, Chief of Army Staff, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Gazetted Officers of Special Category of Government of Nepal, Inspector General of Nepal Police, Inspector General of Armed Police Force, Chief Investigation Director of National Investigation Department, Mayors of Kathmandu Valley Municipalities and Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs will be members of the main function committee.
The meeting has formed level-wise committees and sub-committees comprising the three-tier governments and concerned bodies of the central, provincial and local levels and the private sector and associations to celebrate the day on May 14, 15 and 16 in a three-day manner with the lighting of lamps in all public bodies every evening. Similarly, programmes have also been scheduled at Nepali embassies, diplomatic missions and consulates abroad. The main programme of the main event will be held at The Army Forum Tundikhel on May 15.
According to Home Secretary Duwadi, the federal government and central level programs and state and local level programs will be held on May 15 on the occasion of Republic Day. There will be special dialogues, seminars, radio plays and other awareness programmes on Republic Day on May 15.
On the occasion of Republic Day, the national level print and media will be requested to publish a special issue souvenir and a collection of articles and works highlighting the multilateral voice of the republic. There is a program to light lamps at Durbar Square, Mandla and other places.
The Nepal Army is scheduled to play the rally along with the bugle, increase the cannons and guns at the Military Platform Tundikhel on May 15. The main event committee is scheduled to be held at the Military Forum Tundikhel.
