Jhapa. Police have seized rs 36.1 million worth of agricultural fingers that were smuggled into Indian containers by evading customs duty. Acting Information Officer Praveen Shrestha said that a team of District Police Office, Jhapa checked three Indian containers from the East-West Highway at Birtamod Municipality-5 on Sunday night.
According to him, three Indian containers (NL 01 AH 5679, NL 01 N 9223 and NL 02 L 7486) were intercepted from the highway.
Inside the containers were harvesting machines and agricultural implements used in them. Acting Information Officer at the District Police Office, Jhapa, Shrestha, said that the seized illegal goods and containers have been sent to the Revenue Investigation Office, Itahari for necessary action today. Police have stepped up vigil in the recent past to check illegal trade in the border areas.
