Kathmandu. Nepali Congress lawmaker Dev Prasad Timalsena has demanded the government to waive interest and damages of medium enterprises. Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, he urged the government to waive off their interest and damages in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
He said that the medium industries across the country are suffering a lot now and the government has paid more damages than the meter interest. So far, 17 medium-sized entrepreneurs have committed suicide due to non-payment of compensation and interest.
He said, “Many industries including medium scale industries, brick kilns across the country are in a lot of trouble now. The government has imposed more damages and fines on them than the meter interest, due to these two taxes, they are unable to pay taxes. The state is also deprived of collecting billions of rupees in revenue. Many industrialists: 17 medium industries have committed suicide. I urge the government to waive this compensation and interest in this budget as at least if the government waives the damages and interest, the revenue will also be high, tax payers can also pay taxes and industries can also operate. ’
Lawmaker Timalsena also said that if the government could waive damages and interest, a lot of revenue would be collected.
