Kathmandu. Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has alleged that middlemen were manipulating to make their own people the governor to bring black money to Nepal from abroad. Addressing a programme of The Democratic Thought Society in the capital on Saturday. Koirala suspected that illegal money was coming in the name of remittance and that was the reason why the appointment of the governor was also being manipulated.
“What is the money coming in the name of remittances? It was time for the government to study. “Nepal is on the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force and the government should be serious about it. “, Dr. Koirala said.
He suspected that illegal money was entering Nepal in the name of remittance, saying that last month alone about 200 billion remittances were received and the remittance was not possible even when the people going for foreign employment sent it.
He also alleged that the country was in the grey list but the government was trying to please the middlemen rather than planning to bring them out of there.
“I started to fear that there has been no such manipulation in the appointment of the Governor of the Rastra Bank. My concern is there, I can’t say, I don’t know about the Rastra Bank. Talking to the Chairman, there will be a good person, ‘You have assured that there will be a Democrat.’ I’m sure of that. I am sure. However, thinking about this, there is a concern that there is nothing wrong with it. “, Dr. Koirala said.
Stating that the constitution and the law have been violated on the issue of appointment of governors, Leader Koirala opined that the government should formulate and implement policies to reduce misgovernance, impunity and unemployment.
“The constitution has been violated, in this governor’s case. It has been written in the constitution that the term of appointment of governor should be one month before the end. The term of him (outgoing Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari) ended on April 14. April has passed, it is now in May. How long will the country last like this?” asked Koirala.
Similarly, Koirala said that there was dissatisfaction among the people as impunity was increasing in the country for good governance and ending corruption.
