World Bank’s South Asia Vice President pays courtesy call on PM

Kathmandu. World Bank’s Vice President for South Asia, Martin Raiser, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today. During the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar, discussions were held on nepal’s cooperation in the field of economic and social development and the significance of the ongoing Sagarmatha Dialogue in Kathmandu.

Appreciating the bank’s significant support to Nepal’s economic growth, poverty alleviation and improving the living standards of Nepalis, pm Oli said proper revenue mobilization and effective management for development expenditure was the priority of the government.

He shared that arrangements would be made to complete the projects on time from the upcoming budget as per the work started for increasing production and productivity. Vice-President Raisar expressed commitment to continue the bank’s cooperation and wished success in organizing The Sagarmatha Sambad by giving priority to environmental issues.

The bank has invested $2 million in 19 sectors including transport, energy, education and health in Nepal. Pm’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasal Rimal, Economic Development Advisor Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, Country Director of the Bank David N. Syslen, among others, were present on the occasion.
