Kathmandu. Members of the House of Representatives have drawn the government’s attention to the need for coordination among the three tiers of government to minimize natural risks and damages as the monsoon begins.
During the zero hour of today’s meeting of the Assembly, lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC said that Nepal is at the highest point of natural risk. “The government should take the suggestions of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority seriously. Coordination of all three levels and allocation of necessary budget is necessary. ’
Lawmaker Amber Bahadur Rayamajhi also stressed the need to pay attention to the onset of monsoon as the condition of highways in the country is deteriorating. “The BP Highway, which travels east from the capital, is in a dilapidated condition and I demand an alternative route for this,” he said.
Achyut Prasad Mainali said foreign students could also be attracted if Tribhuvan University could be upgraded to quality. Lawmaker Anisha Nepali said that according to the report made public by the Office of the Auditor General, crores of rupees have been found in arrears in all the 10 local levels of Salyan.
Lawmaker Dr Amresh Kumar Singh stressed the need of giving money to sugarcane and milk farmers on time and controlling price rise. Lawmakers Amrita Devi Agrahari and Ashma Kumari Chaudhary said that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year should be brought in a way that people-oriented and improve the agriculture sector.
Lawmaker Urmila Thebe demanded necessary initiatives to list Pathibhara, a religious and tourism area in eastern Nepal, in the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Kavre: Lawmaker Gokul Prasad Baskota has urged the government to formulate a comprehensive irrigation plan in Kavre district as there is a good potential for vegetable cultivation.
