Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that he was in favour of appointing competent people on the basis of merit and not on the basis of personal proximity to the vacant governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.

Addressing the formal inauguration programme of The Former Planner’s Forum Nepal here today, Prime Minister Oli said, “I do not have anyone in the Rastra Bank. On the basis of meritocracy, capable people should be brought. If there is a person who can work, the country will be able to do it. I don’t need to be called my man. I am the Prime Minister but I am not the only one in the government. Therefore, I give importance to ‘meritocracy’ as much as possible. ‘

Prime Minister Oli clarified that the chairperson s and members of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission for Investigation of Disappeared Persons have also been appointed on the basis of the report received from the recommendation committee. He clarified that he did not have personal acquaintance and relationship with any other office-bearer other than knowing the chairman of a commission when he was the chief secretary.

Prime Minister Oli wished for the exchange of his thoughts and experiences from the former planner’s organization and wished for the sustainability of the organization without clashing with the personality.
