Kathmandu. CpN (Maoist Centre) Deputy General Secretary Barshaman Pun has accused the government of politicising the governor’s issue.

Talking to media persons in the Parliament House premises, he said it was clear whether a political party or politician was running the country or someone else. He said that although it is customary to make nepal rastra bank governors by deputy governors, it is a global practice to make people with experts or expertise in monetary policy.

Deputy General Secretary Pun claimed that the governor would not be appointed unless the DNA with the interest group was matched as it was now liked by any interest group and was trying to fulfill their business interests. He made it clear that they would not object to a person with expertise in monetary policy, economic policy or fiscal policy becoming governor.

“The governor’s issue has been politicised. Whether the political parties are running the country or someone else is becoming more clear so far. On behalf of our party CPN (Maoist Centre), honorable Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli extended his best wishes on behalf of his party KP Sharma Oli after being elected, should the country not be elected by the people and the politicians should run the country? And who do you appoint as the chairman of The Challenge Day in front of you? Not only this, there will be a test in the appointment of the Governor of the Rastra Bank. Who is running the country? Politicians or middlemen? Today, all the facts and behavior confirm that. It is customary for the governor to be made by the deputy governors of the Rastra Bank. It is customary to make experts and experts in the same type of monetary policy. ‘

“On the one hand, the interest groups are looking for their own favour. On the other hand, how does the country’s economy and banks and financial institutions function rather than interest groups? The government has to do so. We do not object to anyone with expertise in monetary policy, economic policy or fiscal policy, whether it is an activist or an ordinary voter or supporter. However, I want to warn the government not to be in the interest of interest groups, not to be political activists and non-expert people should not come. This alliance is to stop the files that have been opened while forming, to weaken the ongoing good governance campaign. We had said that the government was formed to promote things like corruption and irregularities. As of yesterday, the court has issued an arrest warrant. Such people sit on the same platform with the Prime Minister. It is more of a matter of continuity than a surprise,” he said.

He cautioned the government not to appoint the governor in the interest of interest groups, not political activists and non-expert people.
