Dhorpatan. The drinking water problem has been solved in the most remote Taman Khola Rural Municipality-6, Narja Khani. The locals, who have been facing drinking water problems for years, have now received water facilities including taps.
The locals say that the problem of having to wait for hours to fill a jug of water has been solved. 117 taps have been built in the village at a cost of Rs 4 million by the rural municipality. Local Bhim Kumari Chhantyal said that the problem has been solved after the construction of ‘One House, One Tap’.
Chhantyal said, ‘I used to get up early in the morning and fetch water from the tap, I was always in a hurry to send my children to school, but now that time has been put to good use, it has become easier to have a tap in the courtyard.’ The locals had done work worth Rs 500,000 as public labor to complete the drinking water project. In addition, the ward chairman of the ward, Chitra Bahadur Chhantyal, collected Rs 100,000, bringing the total to Rs 100,000.
Through the project, 111 households in Narja Khani village have been connected to taps, and taps have been constructed in six public places. Within two years of the start of the project, the villagers have succeeded in constructing one tap per house.
The rural municipality chairman, Joklal Budha Magar, said that the rural municipality has given top priority to solving the drinking water problem in this geographically difficult area.
