Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has said that those spreading confusion that nothing has happened in Nepal are anti-Nepal elements. He said this while on-site monitoring of the areas affected by the floods of Asad 1, 2078 in Melamchi and Helambu areas of Sindhupalchowk on Monday.

He said that only one group is trying to spread negative comments that nothing has happened in Nepal. Minister Khadka said that the country should be built by itself and that we should work with a positive mindset.

He also urged people to be aware of the elements that are trying to damage Nepal’s economy by saying that nothing has happened in Nepal. He also said that the government is serious about the damage caused by the floods in the Melamchi and Helambu areas of Sindhupalchowk.

He said that the government is committed to the reconstruction of the damage caused by the floods on Asad 1, 2078 BS in the Melamchi and Helambu areas, and stressed that a detailed project has been taken forward for irrigation by bringing water from the Indrawati River to 22 tars in Bhimtar in Indrawati Rural Municipality.

He expressed confidence that after arranging irrigation for the 22 tars, the entire district will not have to struggle for food. He also asserted that the people of Kathmandu have the right to claim water from the government because of Sindhupalchowk.

He said, ‘We are aware of the problem here. It is time to make a budget. We should not say everything. We have been told to keep it secret. We will try until it is possible. We have closely observed the situation here. Let’s start the DPR. Let’s provide irrigation facilities gradually. There is a matter of embankment. We will make maximum use of water. We have now signed agreements in how many places. We will dig canals and wells for irrigation.’

‘We also produce hydropower by building dams. We also distribute it for drinking water. A lot of work is being done. Let’s work with a positive mindset. A commentary has been prepared that says, “No, no, no.” There is a class that does not see what has happened and thinks that nothing has happened. This is an anti-Nepal class. Such a class should also be made aware. If we do not build, who will build, if we do not build, who will? We will build our soil, our land. I urge you to be aware of the elements that are trying to damage Nepal’s economy by creating a narrative that it did not happen,’ he said.

He stressed that attention should still be paid to the river banks as the risks of natural disasters continue to occur.
