Kathmandu. NMB Bank, Nabil Bank, Nepal Infrastructure Bank, Everest Bank, and Dynamic Hydro Energy have entered into a financial arrangement to invest in the 42 MW Lapche Tamakoshi Hydropower Project located in Bigu Rural Municipality, Dolakha District.
NMB Bank will be the lead bank in this project. It has been informed that the approximate cost of the 42 MW Lapche Tamakoshi Hydropower Project will be Rs. 7 billion, while the loan investment from banks and financial institutions will be Rs. 5.25 billion.
NMB Bank has also completed the financial arrangement of the Chepe Khola Cascade Hydropower Project (2 MW) with a single investment. The estimated cost of the 2 MW Chepe Khola Cascade Hydropower Project is Rs. 434 million, while NMB Bank Ltd. is going to invest Rs. 340 million in loans.
Dinesh Dulal – Chief, Sustainable Energy Banking and Mohan Bikram Karki, Chairman, Dynamic Hydro Energy signed the loan agreement on behalf of NMB Bank. NMB Bank Chief Executive Officer Govinda Ghimire and Chairman Mohan Bikram Karki exchanged loan agreements on behalf of the company.
At the same event, NMB Bank Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Govinda Ghimire informed that NMB Bank will study and monitor the technical aspects, environmental and ecological aspects and other risks of the hydropower project in detail and provide appropriate solutions.
Also, Mohan Bikram Karki expressed his commitment to complete this project within the stipulated cost and time frame. NMB Bank Ltd. has so far invested in more than 50 hydropower projects.
In accordance with the directives of Environmental and Social Risk Management, 2022 issued by Nepal Rastra Bank, NMB Bank has prepared an environmental and social policy and implemented an environmental and social management system accordingly.
