Kathmandu. More than 770 million rupees have been collected in royalties from this year’s spring mountaineering season. According to the mountaineering branch of the Department of Tourism, 77 lakh 35 lakh 87 thousand 915 rupees have been collected in royalties till Sunday.
67 crore 60 lakh 9 thousand 28 rupees have been received in royalties from Everest alone. A total of 1,127 people, including 240 women and 887 men from 119 climbing groups, have obtained climbing permits to climb 26 mountains, including the highest peak, Mount Everest.
According to Department Director Leeladhar Awasthi, the highest number of climbers, including 84 women and 372 men from 45 climbing groups, have obtained climbing permits to climb Mount Everest.
Climbers from 57 countries have come to climb Mount Everest. There are 102 climbers from 10 groups on Ama Dablam, 107 from 9 groups on Lhotse, 79 from 8 groups on Makalu, 75 from 7 groups on Kanchenjunga, 76 from 6 groups on Nusse and 66 from 6 groups on Annapurna.
Spring is considered the ideal season for climbing mountains including Everest. A significant number of climbers come from all over the world to climb Everest during this season. The department estimates that the number may increase further as climbing permits are still being issued.
