Kathmandu. French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer made a historic joint visit to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Saturday.

The visit, which comes on the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, clearly highlights European solidarity, humanitarian values and strong support for Ukraine. The leaders held high-level talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and called for an immediate and unconditional 30-day ceasefire with Russia.

They stressed the need to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic initiatives to establish a lasting peace that will ensure Ukraine’s sovereignty and national security. On the occasion, the leaders stressed the need for a long-term peace process based on the United Nations framework and called for international support for the credible implementation of the ceasefire.

They also expressed support for the 30-day ceasefire initiative proposed by US President Donald Trump. It is believed that this high-level visit will not only strengthen the international community’s solidarity with Ukraine, but also strengthen diplomatic pressure on Russia.
