The 10th edition of the Nepal International Trade Fair begins, Industry Minister urges to increase production and export Nepali goods

Kathmandu. The tenth edition of the Nepal International Trade Fair 2025 has begun today at the Bhukritimandap in Kathmandu.

Organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry with the support of the Government of Nepal, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and the Trade and Export Promotion Center (TEPC), the fair, which began today and is co-organized by the Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Cottage and Small Industries, will continue until April 29.

Inaugurating the fair, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari stated that the government is working for policy reforms as requested by the private sector and urged Nepali industrialists and businessmen to increase production and productivity and promote exports. .

He said that the role of the private sector in making Nepal’s economy self-reliant and prosperous is unparalleled, and that the government is also making efforts for various policy reforms and facilitation for industrial development, marketing of domestic products and export promotion.

‘We have prioritized the revival of sick industries, identification of new industrial possibilities and creation of an investment-friendly environment. I believe that this fair will provide a suitable platform for exploring such opportunities and collaboration,’ Minister Bhandari said.

He said that the government stands with the private sector in the country’s economic development, stating that industrial development and private sector promotion have been prioritized in the policy and program recently presented in the parliament. Minister Bhandari said that the fair will help establish the quality and originality of Nepali products in the global market and brand domestic products, urging Nepali entrepreneurs to increase their competitiveness.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Vice President of the Federation Anjan Shrestha said that the fair will make a significant contribution to the international market promotion of Nepali products and the country’s economic development. He was of the opinion that they wanted to send a positive message to the market by organizing the fair at a time when the country’s economy is still in a difficult phase and demand in the market has not increased.

‘We expect the fair to play an important role in expanding business relations between domestic and foreign industrialists, attracting investment, and creating employment,’ said Senior Vice President Shrestha. Stating that the lack of suitable fair venues to organize international-level trade fairs in Nepal is a major challenge, he stressed the need to build a well-organized fair and exhibition venue.

Sharad Bikram Rana, Executive Director of the Trade and Export Promotion Center, said that the capacity to export Nepali goods needs to be increased.

The fair, which has more than 120 stalls from Nepal, China and Bangladesh, will also discuss bilateral trade and investment opportunities through meetings and discussions with business representatives from various countries, said Umesh Dalmiya, central member of the federation and chairman of the fair committee.

The federation has reached its 10th edition by taking this fair as part of its annual calendar. In the future, it should be further refined and modified to brand Nepal at the international level, he said.

The fair will feature digital payment partners IMEPay, Official Insurance, IGI Prudential Insurance, Internet partner Vianet, and partners Heritage Carpet, Salt Trading Corporation Ltd, China Exhibition and Forum Company Ltd, Garment Association Nepal Exhibition Light House, Introduction Trade Soz Nepal Pvt. Ltd., and free entry to the fair will be provided, informed Sabin Shrestha, central member of the federation and vice-chairman of the fair committee.

The ambassadors of Thailand, Israel, and the UAE to Nepal at the fair, the country director of the International Labor Organization (ILO), and The heads of economic affairs from the embassies of the United States, Russia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh also participated.
