Kathmandu. Energy Minister Deepak Khadka has said that the government has not asked the government to not raise the electricity tariff of trunk line dedicators and trunk lines.
Addressing a function organized to celebrate the sixth annual celebration of the Electricity Regulatory Commission on Thursday, he said that despite various propaganda against him in the media, he has never given such pressure.
Minister Khadka said that the Electricity Regulatory Commission is responsible for resolving the dispute seen in TOD meters. Khadka said that the regulatory commission should be made to resolve the problem seen in electricity arrears. Stating that in the past, there was a practice of calling a river in a bag in the energy sector, Khadka claimed that it has been modified today.
He said, “There has been so much controversy over the TOD meter issue. Non-payment of the amount due, inability of the electricity authority to collect the arrears, and unreasonable publicity. Who benefits from this? In fact, the responsibility of deciding this lies with the Regulatory Commission. The consumer says we are ready to pay, the billing institution says that the bill is what we wrote, that is, the bill we sent. After that, the body that sees whether the bill is correct or not is the Electricity Regulatory Commission. The government has asked the industrialists to pay the tariff for consumption in a fair manner for all parties and the government is asking them to collect the remaining dues so that consumers are not cheated.’
According to Minister Khadka, the government understands that this sector can be developed by working hand in hand with the private sector. Stating that the government is ready to amend the laws to remove obstacles accordingly, he said that it is necessary to move forward by eliminating the trend of inaction in all sectors.
