Trump: US to halt attacks after Houthi rebel group agrees to ceasefire

Agency. President Donald Trump said the United States will stop airstrikes against the Houthi group in Yemen. Trump made the announcement after a nearly two-month bombing campaign.

Trump’s response came after the Houthis contacted the administration on Monday night, saying they would immediately halt the attacks, ahead of a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The military has struck at least 800 targets in Yemen since March, killing hundreds of Houthis, according to US Central Command.
