Far West. Nepal Insurance Authority has organized an interaction and discussion program on insurance with Bhajani Municipality from the Far West Province Office.

The authority organized the interaction program to raise awareness about insurance among the provincial and local governments, insurance companies, banks and financial institutions, and the general public and to increase access to insurance.

The said program was held by Nepal Insurance Authority, Far West Province Office in Bhajani Municipality of Kailali District under the chief hospitality of the Municipality Mayor Kewal Chaudhary and the Acting Chief Administrative Officer of the Municipality Surya Bahadur Singh.

In the said program, Municipality Mayor Kewal Chaudhary said that Bhajani Municipality is one of the most flood-prone areas in Kailali District. He was curious about how the farmers of the area can be protected through agricultural insurance.

Mentioning that the insurance of executive members and employees working in the municipality is being done by the municipality itself, the mayor clarified that the Authority should take strong initiatives to resolve the problems seen regarding insurance claim payment and that the Authority should move forward in coordination with the Authority for the financial protection of the property and lives of citizens within the municipality.

Speaking at the end of the program, the mayor also suggested that insurance companies should act responsibly and that the Authority should effectively regulate this work to make arrangements for simple and easy insurance claim payment and to increase the trust of the general public in insurance. .

The attendees at the program emphasized that the Authority should play a coordinating role to easily resolve problems such as procedural complications in claim payment, pig and livestock insurance being offered at prices lower than the market price, problems in engineering insurance documentation, and the lack of payment of Corona insurance claims so far, which has led to a decline in confidence in insurance.

Responding to the questions raised at the program, Kedar Nath Bhatta, Head of the Authority’s Provincial Office, suggested that insurance companies should provide insurance with long-term thinking rather than pursuing momentary gains to win the trust of the general public and create a positive perception of insurance. .

Also, he instructed the branch heads of insurance companies to insure livestock and property based on the actual value and urged the participants to contact the state office of the authority in case of any problem regarding insurance.

Requesting that the Corona insurance claim amount will be paid only after it is released by the Nepal government, Office Chief Bhatta said that the authority is always ready to provide necessary assistance by coordinating with the municipality and also requested the municipality to designate a focal person for insurance and make necessary coordination for that work.
