Kathmandu. National Assembly member Krishna Prasad Poudel has said that it is a good thing to include changes in the curriculum from school to university in a timely manner in the policy and program. He said this while participating in the discussion on the policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/083 in the National Assembly meeting held on Tuesday.

He said that there is also a need for infrastructure for education development, and that it is unfortunate that Nepal’s education policy is not related to economic development, growth and prosperity, and that the plan to change the curriculum from school to university brought by the government is commendable.

He stressed that the government’s commitment to change the education policy is a positive aspect in the current situation where educational institutions are becoming factories that produce unemployment due to irrelevant curriculum. Stating that millions of Nepali students have gone abroad for higher education and trillions of rupees have been spent, he stressed that the government should make arrangements for the youth to study in the subjects they choose, seek, and desire.

He said, ‘Education is also the infrastructure for development. Therefore, education policy needs to be related to economic development, growth, and prosperity. But unfortunately, our education policy is not related to economic development, growth, and prosperity. For this reason, it is a good thing that this policy and program mentions things that will change our curriculum from school to university over time. In the current situation where our educational institutions are becoming factories that produce unemployment due to our irrelevant curriculum, the commitment to change the education policy that has been made in the policy and program, the government needs to move forward with a strong commitment to this, understanding what kind of education is needed for the country? Millions of Nepali students have gone abroad for higher education, trillions of rupees have been spent abroad. Keeping these things in mind, the government should make arrangements to allow the youth to study in the subjects they choose, seek, and desire.’

He expressed confidence that the policies and programs would solve the problems seen in the country and said that the government should also express its commitment to it.
